Stylish Time Tellers

POSTED August 15th, 2014

What’s the one piece of jewelry that men and women share in common? Watches. Watches can make or break an outfit, act as a statement item and help ensure you get from task to the next in your busy day in style. Finding the balance between style and affordability can be tough, but Swatch has seemed to master that common problem since the company opened in 1983. A swatch watch is way more than a means to measure time, it’s a personal statement delivered with the flick of a wrist.

Here are some stylish statement makers we are digging right now:

Summer Beauty Routine Switch-Up

POSTED August 12th, 2014

The summer season often calls for a major switch up in one’s beauty routine. And don’t get me wrong, I would never trade beach days, long summer days or patio cocktails for anything – but beating the heat in a glamourous way can often be tricky. We’ve pulled together some products to help you beat the heat without looking like a ‘hot mess’ this summer.

Blotting Papers – I don’t care who you are or what you say, we all get dewy at times! At least these rose-scented blotters can add a hint of refreshment.

Evian Water Mist – This delightful cool mist can aid in cooling down your neck, arms or even assist in reviving a tired makeup look for after work cocktails.

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream with SPF 30 – You’re never too young for a skincare routine involving BB cream. This beauty does overtime by packing an SPF 30!

St. Tropez Self Tanner – Despite the temptation to rock a sun-kissed glow a la UV rays, this self-tanner works wonders for skin types ranging from fair to dark.

NARS Light Reflecting Light Reflecting Setting Powder – This matte-like powder helps tame shine and lets you stay polished from day to night.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray – You don’t have to live near an ocean to score sexy beach waves! Just a few spritzes from this spray and you’ll look like you’ve got perfectly tousled tresses.

Essie Fiji Nail Polish – The perfect go-to summer shade that will blend in with any skin tone or outfit combo!

Eyelash Curler – Keep things simple with bold, beautiful lashes!

NARS Lodhi-Coral Lip Pencil – I am all about a coral lip hue this summer. A lip pencil like this can help you achieve a variety of shades!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – This jet black mascara lengthens, curls, volumizes and separates your lashes to create a look you didn’t even know you had!

5 Summer Essentials I Can’t Live Without

POSTED July 28th, 2014

I can’t believe that we are almost half way through summer! It seems like temps went from 0 to 30 overnight and while I’m not complaining, I certainly had to quickly adjust my summer wardrobe and beauty routine to use in summer weather. I’ve pulled together my 5 essential items for the summer weather but would love to know what items get you through a scorching summer?

Chuck Taylor Sneakers, Foot Locker
I often flip back and forth between black and low versions of the Converse Chuck Taylor sneaker, but I’m all for white in the summer months. Paired with a summer dress or distressed boyfriend jeans and a tee, they’re casual and comfort in one shoe – perfection!

Cinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer with SFP, Sephora

This product packs a punch with lightweight coverage, that perfect ‘dewy’ look and is equipped with SPF 15. Eliminating two steps in my morning beauty routine is a-ok with me!

Denim Jacket, Gap

When you finally find the perfect jean jacket, it’s an indescribable feeling. Whether it’s styled with a pencil skirt and tee at the office or shorts and a tank on weekends, this crucial item in your wardrobe always does double time in the summer months.

Cat Eye Sunglasses, Tom Ford, Sunglass Hut

I may or may not have an obsession with sunglasses… but if I’m going to stick with my tried, tested and true – it’s a great cat-eye shaped frame in black. This pair from Tom Ford certainly do the trick and make quite a statement doing it.

Haute in the Heat, Essie Nail Polish
I am a firm believer on staying on top of your summer pedi. I mean how often do we get to bust out our open toed shoes in Canada?! Whether you’re doing it yourself or headed to the salon, this colour is sure to please!

Summer of Style with Aeropostale

POSTED July 25th, 2014

In the summer months, great style doesn’t have to be complicated to make a statement. Whether it’s the weekend, errand running or chilling at home on a week-night, we love the casual, laid-back style that Aeropostale is known to offer. A staple for denim, comfy tees and hoodies, I recently dropped into the store to find some cute basics but I was pleasantly surprised. Halter crop tops, printed dresses and plaid print pants left me with an armful of clothing that I had to try on. And you know I don’t even have to say it, but the prices are definitely student friendly!

See some of my favourite items from the new collection and get into your Mapleview before this stuff flies off shelves!
