What to Wear: The Office Christmas Party

POSTED December 19th, 2014

The office Christmas party is a great excuse for a new LBD and pumps but it’s not always easy to decide on what style of dress to wear and how formal you should be. Nobody wants to come off as a complete bore but you also don’t want to be known as the one who went a tad over the top. See how we’ve styled one dress three ways depending on your office’s party attire:

The Dress: Dorothy Perkins, The Bay, $72 Clutch: Forero, ALDO, $40 Coat: Long Belted Wool Blend Coat, RW&CO, $219 Shoes Fragola, ALDO, $80 Coat Combination Fur and Wool Coat, $99, Zara Shoes: Jeweled Leather High Heel Sandal, Zara, $99 Clutch: Edromora, ALDO, $40 Clutch: Enroelid, ALDO, $50 Coat: Fake Fur Jacket, H&M, $99 Shoes: Gloide, ALDO, $80

In April of 2014, Banana Republic announced a recent shuffle in management and appointed it-girl, Marissa Webb, as the new Creative Director of the label. A former designer for J. Crew, Webb left in 2012 to pursue a label all her own. Her love of layering, nod to minimalism and cool-girl style had many wondering how the new brand would fate. With two successful seasons under her belt, it came as no surprise when Banana Republic, seeking to mix things up, appointed Webb to assist as Creative Director over the brand. Alas, #thenewBR was launched.

The fall collection at Banana Republic is young, fresh and crisp. With a robust collection for men and women, the new styles still cater to the old faithful’s of the brand and welcome new faces. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites of the new His and Hers collection from the label.

Fall Back in Style with These Amazing Time Pieces

POSTED November 24th, 2014

With the clocks turning back, it got me thinking about time pieces and how powerful they’ve become at making personal style statements. With ultra-modern styles sweeping the runways this season, accessories are having to do double duty to not only dress up an outfit but to also share your own personal take on an otherwise simplified look.

I once heard finding a watch can be like finding the perfect mate. Pick a great one and you’ll have it forever, pick the wrong one and you’ll be itching it shake it. Whether you’re into gender-bender styles or seeking more of a timeless look, we pulled together our favs that are sure to appeal to every taste and budget.

Suit up and Boot up!

POSTED November 19th, 2014

Isn’t it time you stepped into fall with this season’s boot trends? It’s officially that time of year where we begin embracing layers, cold weather accessories and the must-have for any Canadian gal’s wardrobe: the boot. Aside from the right jacket or bag for fall and winter, boots can sometimes be one of the most expensive investments you’ll make in a season so it’s best to make sure you’ve got a pair that best suit your lifestyle. We’ve rounded up our favourites from the Chelsea boot to over-the-knee styles but don’t blame us if you find yourself wanting more than the one pair you swore you needed for the season!

Fall Faves by The Style Mogul, Christina Cravero

POSTED November 14th, 2014

Fall always has so much to offer, and it may just be one of my favourite seasons! This year we’re seeing an array of prints, from winter blossoms, to graphic sweaters, to checks, plaid and animal prints. And let’s not forget to layer accordingly with shirts, sweaters, scarves and capes. This season things seem a little more relaxed and simple with statement pieces being the only focal point in the outfit. Whether you’re wearing an amazing cobalt blue robe coat, like the one from Le Chateau with a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans, or a holiday dress, like the one from RW&CO, but simplifying it to wear on a daily basis with black opaque tights, a leather bomber & booties, or just a simple graphic sweater with a collared shirt, we’ll always be on point.
