How to Wear Winter Whites

POSTED February 27th, 2015

Sure, you’ve read about it, likely seen it and even thought about styling it yourself but when it comes time, you may find yourself hesitating to style an all-white ensemble in the dead of winter. Unfortunately, so many of us have been molded into the thought that you can’t wear white past Labor Day but that rule has long been banished and it’s time to get on board.

While white is certainly the dominant tone in the outfit, consider adding complimentary shades of greys or pastels like a baby pink. In this outfit, we added a fun hue with the addition of a crossbody bag that will break up the white.

New York Fashion Week Favs: Fall 2015 Recap

POSTED February 26th, 2015

It’s no surprise we like to stay ahead of the curve at Mapleview Centre so we spent the last two weeks combing over updates, Instagram snaps and more to get the dish on the trends you can expect to see for Fall 2015.

We’ve rounded up our personal favourites from the runway models to previews for some of the amazing brands you can find at Mapleview including BCBG, Michael Kors, Banana Republic and more.

Ask us to summarize how we see next year’s trends rolling out and we’re loving the nod to the 70s with layered tweeds, faux fur accents and colour palettes of avocado green with harvest gold. There’s also a strong continuation of the menswear trend for women so patent brogues, two piece suits and fedoras will continue to reign in collections for next year.

Here are some snaps of items we’ve got our eye on from the amazing retailers at Mapleview Centre.

Winter Skincare Regime: Don’t Crack Under Pressure!

POSTED February 18th, 2015

For some women, trading the heat and sun for the cold and snow means trading a sun kissed tan for a rosy glow on the cheeks. For most women (including me), it means an uncomfortable dryness to the skin on our hands, face, feet and more. Your skin feels tight, dry and in some cases may even crack with extreme temperatures.

Thankfully, various products are now available to help combat these winter woes and assist in restoring that luscious winter glow we all strive for. Find some of my favourites below that was a must have during the cooler months.

1. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer - A bestseller for a reason, the effects of this product work beneath the surface layers throughout the day. Perfect for the woman on the go, this moisturizer quickly absorbs into skin leaving the surface area soft and nurtured.

2. Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50 - Yes, we’ve heard this time and time before, but just because it’s -10 out, doesn’t mean our skin can’t burn from exposure to the sun. Consider a daily SPF such as this to provide lasting protecting against UVA and UVV rays. This product works great with any of the items listed above and can be applied following your moisturizer.

3. Kiehl’s Precision Lifting & Pore Tightening Concentrate - This serum helps to restore elasticity to the skin leaving you with a more toned and uplifted look.

4. Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate - I am obsessed with this product! Applied before your moisturizer, this serum helps give new life to dull skin and works to hydrate your face throughout the day.
